Organizational and Leadership Training for Teenagers

Organizational and leadership training for the youth of Sanggar Merah Merdeka has been conducted over three sessions. In the first session, participants learned about SWOT analysis. The trainer asked the teenagers to apply SWOT analysis to evaluate their own organization. The training sessions were held on different dates for the teenagers from Tales and Lebak. The first session for the Tales teenagers took place on January 6, and the session for the Lebak teenagers was held on January 10. The speakers for this activity were final-year students from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Unesa: Teo and Fay.

In the second session 22 and 31 Januari, participants focused on conflict management. The speakers taught the teenagers how to address problems effectively by listening with empathy, negotiating, and fostering open communication. As leaders of organizations, they should help prevent and resolve disputes that may arise within teams or between individuals. Effective conflict management, according to the trainers, enhances communication, understanding, and collaboration.

During the final session 5 Februari, the teenagers were divided into three groups and given a case study to solve. The case involved a high school student organization that was considering disbanding due to internal issues. Some groups agreed with the decision to disband, while others disagreed or remained neutral.

After an hour of discussion, they reached a consensus that the student organization should not be disbanded, but that improvements should be made to its processes and controls.

From this discussion, participants learned how to approach and resolve problems in a wise manner that is acceptable to all parties involved.

By holding training sessions on organization and leadership, we hope that teenagers will be able to become effective organizational leaders and manage their organizations well, continuing to learn from the challenges they face.(Mahrawi).
